Meet in Beijing Arts Festival is a large-scale international festival hosted by China’s Ministry of Culture. This year’s theme is “Romance in Spring” and will feature Canada as the Guest Country of Honor. This is a huge honor for Canada, as highlighted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in his letter of congratulations. “Over the past 16 years, it has become one of China’s foremost cultural events, and on behalf of the Government of Canada, we are honored to be the featured country this year”. Canada’s delegation consists of artists including Vancouver’s GOH Ballet, Toronto’s Soprano Katherine Whyte and Comedian Dashan, the Ottawa Bach Choir, Montreal’s Ensemble Caprice and Buzz Brass, as well as Pointe Claire’s Drama-Magic act ‘OUTBRIDGE - Clockwork Mysteries’. There will also a photographic exhibit on Canada as well as an exhibition of Haida art. The trip will end with a private reception at Canada’s Chinese Embassy being held by Ambassador Guy Saint-Jacques in honor of the event.
