United Nations, New York, 4 May 2009 - Daily Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General. The Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review Working Group began its fifth session this morning in Geneva. The session will last for two weeks.

Update on the independent fact-finding mission, which the Human Rights Council is setting up to investigate international human rights and humanitarian law violations related to the recent conflict in Gaza.
