International Retrospective 2014-2017 – Rome, Maxxi museum Picture of Life started in 2014, as the outcome of a meeting between Jonathan, the Naples-based non-profit association, the Italian Ministry of Justice - Juvenile Department - and Manfrotto, a world-leading company in the photography accessories market. Since then the project grew and began to include an increasing number of associations in Italy and abroad. Through the creation of a photography workshop, Picture of Life involves people who have faced (or are in) situations of hardship and social exclusion, with the objective of giving them a chance to learn new skills and make a fresh start in life. In an organized setting, with established rules and shared spaces, they are brought closer to the photographer’s profession with the objective of turning an interest into a job. Manfrotto supports the entire project by providing all the necessary photography gear for its participants and by organizing photography workshops and respective exhibitions. Moreover, all workshops are curated by professional photographers who are Ambassadors to the global Manfrotto community.
