Centerville Students Plant Cherry Trees for Arbor Day

CENTERVILLE -- Nine cherry trees are now growing at the Veterans Memorial at Stubbs Park. Third-grade students from Centerville's nine elementary schools planted the trees Wednesday morning. It's all in observance of Arbor Day, which is held worldwide in April. The cherry trees are also in support of Operation 1,000 Cherry Trees, which formed after the 2011 tsunami in Japan. The city of Centerville and the City Beautiful Commission helped coordinate the event.
