Chrissy McCabe explains how she came to make her award-winning documentary film about whaling in the Canadian arctic and advocates for her peers to learn from the past, use the power of media to create change, and become part of a global movement. 

Chrissy McCabe is currently a senior in High School. In the fall of 2009 she started Broadcast Journalism classes. Last year, Chrissu, and her camera, traveled to both the Canadian Arctic and Antarctica with Students on Ice. Upon her return, Chrissy used the footage she captured in both polar regions to create a short 4 minute documentary piece. Since the expedition she has been working with fellow expeditions members on the creation of the group Carbon Neutral Antarctica. Chrissy believes that we can tap into our media world to broaden our advocacy for issues in the world.
