Hooray! I made my very own custom model from scratch and brought it into SFM. Mesh, bones and rig created in Softimage Mod Tool 7.5. Naturally, this is a butt-ugly and very uninteresting animation... BUT I DID IT, after days of watching outdated tutorials and pulling my hair out. Next task: to get a properly-rigged biped.
