FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) - A Florence woman is in the hospital Wednesday night after being hit by a pick-up truck while on a morning walk in her neighborhood. 

 Residents of the subdivision woke up to the sounds of a helicopter and police sirens Wednesday around 7 a.m. Lori Tanabe, 48, was walking her two dogs and crossing Algiers Street and Rampart Way when she was hit by a black Ford F-150.

Bob Kidd saw that aftermath.

"I came out of the street and saw this truck in the middle of the intersection and a lady laying on the girl. Another lady and a little girl on the phone because I passed the fire trucks," said Kidd.

Police say 32-year-old Meagan Arbogast was driving her child to school when she stopped at the stop sign and was making a left turn. Police say she didn't see Tanabe, who was dressed in dark clothing, crossing the street and hit her with the pick-up truck. Arbogast called 911 in a panic after the crash.

CALLER: I was pulling out and I didn't see her crossing the road here.

DISPATCHER: OK. [Who] hit her? Is the person that hurt her still there?

CALLER: Yeah, I'm here. I'm here. I didn't see her. I hit her with the freaking truck.

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals the accident had nothing to do with speed, texting or running a stop sign. No charges have been filed. 

 Tanabe was taken by AirCare from Florence to UC Medical Center where she's in critical condition.
