NOTE: I absolutely adore this song, although in the same time I’d be the last one to be called the “waltz lover”. However, some waltzes are sometimes so haunting and beguiling like a beautiful dream half-slept on a silent meadow, with your eyes half closed and your head full of a sweet peace and inexpressible longing. No other dance tempo is able to evoke such magical state of mind, only the waltz: especially the slow waltz- which in Polish translates (for unknown reason) as “Boston”. So – here is such “Boston”, played by a magnificent British master Ray Noble’s dance band: perhaps one of the 5-10 best among all dance orchestras in the world in the 1930s. And the refrain is wonderfully crooned by a favorite Noble’s singer: Al Bowlly. What can be nicer for such a lazy, warm Saptember afternoon like today?
A special bonus are the similarly “lazy” photographs of the nightly London of the interwar period. They seem to prove, there are (or rather: there USED TO BE) not many so picturesque cities in the world like the English capital city.
