Just $1 per hour, for one week. That’s it. Simple, yet powerful. Join together with colleagues and friends in the construction and design industries for KIDstruction week and support the mission of St. Louis Children’s Hospital: to do what’s right for kids. Meet Matt, a featured St. Louis Children's Hospital Guardian of Childhood and part of our series, "Building Futures for Kids" during KIDstruction Week 2016. Matt’s son, Luke, was diagnosed with a form of Non- Hodgkin lymphoma, the third most common childhood cancer in the U.S. and turned to the staff at St. Louis children’s hospital for care. What is KIDstruction Week? KIDstruction week is a designated week that construction, engineering, and architectural companies in the St. Louis area raise money for programs in the hospital. Employees who participate donate $1 or more for each hour they work during KIDstruction week and employers are encouraged to match the donations of their employees. The program has raised over $1 million since 2011 when it began, allowing patients like Luke to have access to music and art therapy, the Family Resource Center and sibling playroom, and neuro-critical care. The Guardians of Childhood is an initiative through St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri that helps every kid be and stay healthy through a variety of programs. A key priority of the Guardians of Childhood is to discover better treatments and find cures for childhood illnesses and diseases. Thanks to innovative partnerships and generous donors, we are shaping the future of pediatric medicine.
