This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What if young people are asking the wrong questions about college? According to Dan Gilbert, where to go and how to get in are not the critical considerations.

Dan Gilbert works with learning organizations around the world to design, execute, and evaluate innovative learning activities. He has taught courses on innovation and learning at Stanford’s Graduate School of Education and advised colleges and universities around the world on the design, operation, and evaluation of innovative learning spaces. Gilbert has led design thinking workshops in Brazil, Denmark, and the United States, and he has worked with schools, museums, high-tech start-ups and taught English in Japan.

He is a special assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Gilbert holds a Master’s Degree in Learning, Design and Technology from Stanford and has been an extra in movies with Clint Eastwood and Tupac Shakur.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
