People in La Bomba barrio, a subdistrict of Dajabón, Dominican Republic, are battling malaria with education and bed nets, thanks to The Carter Center. The effort is part of the Center's Hispaniola Initative, in partnership with the Dominican Republic and Haiti, to help the two countries and their other partners accelerate the elimination of two devastating mosquito-borne infections—malaria and lymphatic filariasis—from Hispaniola. *Read about a Haitian health agent's work to fight malaria in his community: http://www.cartercenter.org/news/publications/health/itfde_publications/haitian-health-agent-story.html *Learn more about our Hispaniola Initiative: http://www.cartercenter.org/health/hispaniola-initiative/index.html *Learn more about the International Task Force for Disease Eradication: http://www.cartercenter.org/health/itfde/index.html Learn more about the Carter Center's Malaria Control Program: http://www.cartercenter.org/news/multimedia/HealthPrograms/EthiopiaMosquitoNetDistribution.html Founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter in partnership with Emory University, The Carter Center is committed to advancing human rights and alleviating unnecessary human suffering.
