How I came to be

Not everyone starts at the top,
We try to get up, but were shuffled and stopped
I was born to a house, but to me it was a circus,
There was always the art, creative in surplus.
I lived happily in New Mexico,
Heard artists of all times in their own way show,
Inspiration in the Nation, alive as the radio stations
My mom started the Folk Art Festival
And called them all to one great ball,
Being 11, I was always inspired,
But this worked me quick into the ways of a writer,
And I began a long love with language in spite of her,
Teachers that laughed at the student who wronged
Didnt mind what they said, I knew this was where I belonged,
And sooner then later I was performing for all,
More in my kitchen then on a pedestal
And now Im here, its how I created me
Now with so much support
Its how I came to be.
