The Volvo Adventure Award is an annual international event, bringing together groups of young people from all around the globe in an education programme that rewards environmental projects. Run in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme, the Volvo Adventure Award provides an international stage for the decision makers of the future to showcase their groundbreaking environmental projects, each of which must prove its sustainability before it can be considered as a finalist. As each group presents their project, they are competing to win the $10,000 prize, and the honour of being crowned Volvo Adventure winners. The event celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, and many of the projects which have featured over the past 10 years are still going strong, including creating biofuel out of cooking oil, recycling chopsticks, turning a city dump into a forest and encouraging young people to grow their own produce. See an introduction to the project, and hear from some of the participants and two of the judges, UNESCO's Bernard Combes and former finalist Chris McLean. http://www.volvocars.com/uk/
