Puppy sit and stay training! Stay is very important command, but its not that easy to train. In this video i will show you how to teach young puppy how to stay correctly. It is important, that your dog already know commands like sit, lie down or come before you start with Stay. Start the training with putting your dog into sitting position. After that, say the word „Stay“ and put your hand infront of your dog, with your palm facing towards him. Wait just a few seconds, even three seconds are great when you just started and after that give your dog a big praise and treat reward. Gradually, but slowly increase the distance of the stay, but dont ask your dog for too much too early. If your dog breaks the stay, dont shout at him. Just dont give him praise or reward and try it again, but lower the time and length of the stay. Be very patient, it is the key to succesfully teach your dog this command. Stay command is usefull for many reasons. It can keep your dog safe, for example when you are getting out of your car, so you dog will not jump into the road. Its also good, when you are meeting some strangers, that are afraid of dogs, or when you are eating dinner and dont want your dog be close to you. There are many reasons why to teach this command. Always show your dog affection after he will do the stay correctly. Link the stay with positive consequences. If you are teaching puppies, be very patient and dont do long training sessions. Puppies will get distracted quiet easily. But as you can see, Andy is 4 months old, and he gets the command very fast.
