Tucked away on a street in urban Detroit is a wonderful craftsmen style home that served as the first home for the world's largest collection of Asian art and American Impressionists. Its owner, Charles Lang Freer became one of the worlds most prominent collectors of Asian Art and art of the middle East at a time when art of the near and Far East was not really appreciated in the West. Today, his collection is housed in the Freer Gallery on the Mall in Washington D.C. But this is where it all started.
