A persons horoscope is now commonly considered to be the astrology forecast for a person.  An astrology chart is calculated based upon the observation of the planets at a particular hour. In the astrology forecast for the month there are several astrology charts that are considered in relationship to your sun sign. For example the new moon chart and the full moon chart. Ingress charts are astrology charts when a planet moves into a new sign, such as the Sun moving into a new sign or Venus moving into a new sign. 

How does an astrologer get information for the monthly horoscope or astrology forecast  for all 12 signs? How accurate could it possibly be?  It is obviously not as accurate as if you had your own personal astrology reading, but it will give you a general overview and sometimes it will be spot on for you.

How astrologers create these monthly horoscopes or astrology forecasts and astrology readings is you calculate the charts, then put your sun sign on the first house and observe where the planets are in the sky in relationship to your sun on the first house. 

In your personal astrology chart the ascendant is the sign on your first house, that is why you want to listen to the astrology forecast for your ascendant too. However even the sun sign astrology is accurate as the planets that are transiting now are in certain angles to your sun, that in itself is very significant and will provide you answers to how your month will go and what opportunities you will have.
