Wheeling Traction Co. Cincinnati Curved-Sider 639 - riding on the day of the ribbon cutting for locomotive Atlantic Shore Line #100. 38 years under restoration. Seashore Trolley Museum, Sept. 25th, 2009.
Thank you Jim Schantz, main project sponsor and Donald Curry lead restoration curator and all the rest who brought it about. This car is about only 20% original it was so rusted and rotted when it was found in a farmer's field. It is probably the only operating Cincinnati curved-sider in existence. There is a display only car in Cincinnati, and one under restoration at Arden in Washington, Pa.
The trucks are from a Boston type 5.
Curved-siders were an invention of the Cincinnati Car Co. for building a car that was very light and able to save on electricity. They saved many an interurban line from abandonment. The car was built within a walk from where I grew up.
     Long live the curved-siders!!
