Instead, the battle is over the word "marriage" itself, which carries cultural and moral significance. Redefining marriage erases the distinction between a civilizational cornerstone—one man and one woman in a committed union—and relationships that are legally equal but not culturally foundational. Greg argues that preserving the term “marriage” is about affirming the unique role of male-female unions in sustaining society.
