On June 30th, the American Eagle Foundation released a 15-week-old juvenile Bald Eagle back into its nesting area near Harrison Bay State Park. This young eaglet had fallen out of its nest and was injured. Upon finding the eaglet, it was taken to the University of Tennessee School of Veterinary Medicine for treatment, and then placed at the AEF for rehabilitation. The AEF crew reported that they saw the eaglet's parents flying above the area as their youngster was released. The eaglet was named "The Great Concilator" in honor of former Tennessee Senator, Howard Baker. This is the fourth year that a pair of Bald Eagles have returned to the same nest at the Bear Trace Golf Course on the shores of Chickamauga Lake, successfully raising a total of 5 eaglets (counting the rehabilitated eaglet.)
