You know, we never ended up finding that chalk... We meet everyone in town and make real friends with Susie. ...somethings off. This isn't really Undertale, is it? Undyne doesn't know Alphys, Asgore, Toriel, and this Rudolph 'Rudy' Holiday used to be college pals, there's a weird underground bunker with no music, Gerson and the monsters that were amalgamate are all dead, Sans and Papyrus are new to town and Sans owns a grocery store that looks like Grillby's with most of it scratched off and replaced with 'Sans (really, Sans?). It's good though, Sans "befriended" my mom (then proceeds to snitch on her by telling me that she got Hershey's kisses for me and hides them, so I am going straight home and raiding my house), Alphys just hangs out in the dump and it looks like she might live there? Actually, come to think of it, that might be normal. She likes Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 way more than the original here (which sounds like Madoka Magica version of MMKC) which honestly should be the biggest indicator that things are wrong. So this should be pretty obvious from the beginning, but I'm pretty sure this is an AU rather than Undertale 2, where monsters were never sealed underground. Monsters are way ruder here, as seen with the police just shutting the blinds on you and the Townhall monsters treating you like a kid, then blatantly telling you that if you "need someone to change your diaper, then go talk to the cops." All in all, the monsters seem very 'Earthbound-y', which is to say, they are all quirky but are some pretty rude.
