WACH Fox News broke the story of S.C. attorney Jonathan McCoy's arrest and subsequent lawsuit against the city of Columbia in February 2010. Three city police officers claimed McCoy grabbed them outside a downtown bar, but surveillance video outside that bar contradicts the officers' sworn statements of what happened. Over the course of the year, following WACH Fox's coverage, the city ultimately dropped criminal charges against McCoy, and allegations of officer wrongdoing prompted the FBI and state police to launch their own investigations into the department and the conduct of its officers.
