Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated with intense devotion by the Tamil community during the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). The word Thaipusam is derived from the month name Thai and Pusam, which refers to a star that is at its peak during the festival.

In Malaysia, Thaipusam is celebrated in a grandiose affair in several states and attracts over a million devotees and tens of thousands of tourists.

Watch the celebration LIVE right here on January 16th and 17th, 2014.
