Pepsi unveils fat-blocking soda in Japan

Pepsi has unveiled a dextrin-containing soda in Japan that it claims has fat-blocking properties. Dextrin is a water-soluble fiber made from starches derived from wheat, potatoes and corn. Dextrin is traditionally used in glues as a binder. When added to foods, dextrin makes drinkers feel more full. Dextrin can also block fat absorption to a certain degree.
