After the aliens invaded and conquered Edo Japan, a prohibition on swords is established and the samurai are treated with disdain. One man, Gintoki Sakata (Shun Oguri 小栗旬), still possesses the heart of the samurai, though his obsession with sweets and his work in a yorozuya (odd jobs) often lead people to think otherwise. Accompanied by Shinpachi Shimura (Masaki Suda 菅田将晖) and Kagura (Kanna Hashimoto 桥本环奈), the three frequently clash with the police, rebels and assassins in the most unfortunate but hilarious circumstances.
