so im disecting my games trying to "get gud". This was one of my better solo games but I made a couple obvious mistakes when I go back and look at it. Kill 1) I had been listening to this guy loot the buildings near me for a couple minutes off and on and he seemed pretty predictable so I closed the doors on the bottom floor and waited for about 60 seconds for him. I heard him come in on the right side of the building and start looting the room (tip: always loot a building from the top down. Its safer for you *and* it lets you pull tricks like this). My main mistake was positioning my rifle too low at the door frame (I should have been aiming at his head level). A better player wouldn't have charged in across the hall without even looking left or right so he ran through my crosshairs faster then I expected. Regardless, the things I did right were crouching, leaning and using the stair guardrails as cover (notice he shot at me and all his rounds hit the handrails). His loot included a compensator which is awesome for the M416. If I had been using that when he came through the door it probably wouldn't have recoiled off him nearly as badly. (between kill 1 and 2): Since I made noise I waited and listened and then moved out the back door to another set of buildings with a better view out into the closing zone and so I wouldn't attract to much attention. Kill 2) window frames suck. My aim sucks. and I had it on auto. All problems. I only fired because of the way he acted. He was running into that room and then he suddenly stopped and moved back, switched to his k98 and crouched. Its possible he was just going to glass the buildings but I didn't want to chance it. If you frame step the video you can see I actually tried to fire while I I had my crosshair on his head but my reaction time was too slow and he was moving *and* I had it set to auto. What I did right was lean at the window edge to present as small a target as possible and then when he dialed in my window, I moved to another window. His mistake was doing the "wiggle" where he was hiding. There isn't enough cover. He would have needed to move to the small pillar and then not move while behind it, instead he left his head exposed while trying to heal. RIP. (between 2 and 3) I actually waited about 60 seconds and watched the area and then went to clean that guys corpse. People in this game are usually not very patient so 60 seconds is usually long enough for 90% of players to give up and either go loot the guy you just killed (which is REALLY dumb) or to expose themselves looking for his killer. I got some meds, attachments and a K98 from him (thanks!). 3a) at the start here you can see me doing something I picked up from wackyjacky. You can swap between optics on your primary weapon with a simple right click *if* either your pistol wont support an optic, or you don't have a pistol (it might also work if your pistol already has an optic on it, I'm not 100% sure). This trick makes it really quick and easy to switch between a 4x and a red dot on your primary Assault Rifle. Also make sure the weapon your doing this with is in the top slot. 3b) I had seen a guy moving through those buildings and was looking for him. Walking is very quiet which is important when your being sneaky. You can be heard up to 40m away if you sprint but only 15m if you crouch walk. That means if I sprinted through the apartments someone on the other side of the road could hear me! you can "walk" two different ways, you can hold down the walk button or you can hold down either lean. I use both. If I'm peaking windows I'll usually just keep a lean held down while I walk to avoid the noise. Once you start shooting walk becomes less important obviously. Kill 3) I had good accuracy on this guy. I also am getting into the habit of using hold breath as often as possible. But I made the mistake of having it on auto and had a couple doubles because of it. Using a 4x M416 (even kitted like that one) on auto is pretty advanced and not something I can pull off yet. I also believe I need to lower my scoped sensitivity a little more. the crosshairs moved too quickly. The problem is I'm right near where it should be and if I lower it much more it will get difficult to track moving targets while scoped in. Kill 4) This guy was in a firefight and just gave his position away. He was also in the middle of using a grenade and I guess panicked. Why he threw it my direction I don't know. Maybe he was just trying to get rid of it and hoped it would make me run for cover. The last 2-3 shots were blind, another trick I picked up from wackyjacky and chocotaco. You can usually make a decent guess on their movement speed so just keep tracking and shooting. Its worked for me a couple of times now. His mistake was not zigzagging which alters your tracking speed and will disrupt the trick I used.
