Patient families and the Head of Orthopedics at BC Children's Hospital explain how the EOS Imaging machine will improve care for patients. The Orthopedics team at BC Children’s has 12,000 visits from children every year, and the vast majority of these children require some type of imaging procedure as part of their visit. Doctors use scans, such as X-rays, to monitor children’s bone and muscle growth, and to diagnose and detect problems. The EOS imaging system uses advanced technology that dramatically reduces radiation exposure, while providing more accurate full-body, three-dimensional images quickly. In less than 20 seconds, and with very limited radiation exposure, the EOS machine can acquire a whole-body image of a standing patient in a single scan.
