7:43 - Jacques gets captured at this part and is trapped in a room being filled with poisonous gas. Man, is that all it takes to take out a main protagonist? Why didn't Guildenstern just build like 20 of these rooms? 8:50 - Michelle - And now we get to play as Michelle again! Time to show why it was worth getting that grenade launcher. First of all, equip it. And now never unequip it. Because she can fire it pretty damn fast, it deals a ton of damage, has good range, sends enemies flying, and does splash damage. This weapon is better than anything in Samanosuke or Jacques arsenal. Now we just have a linear path to Samanosuke, and all we have to do is pave it with Genma guts. Who'd have thought the power trip in this game would have come from Michelle of all people? 13:27 - Samanosuke - Unfortunately, it doesn't last long. As soon as we reach him we're back to controlling Samanosuke. Now make sure to save. We're about to have one of...those...puzzles. fight through a few enemies and we'll reach the same room that Jacques is in. 16:47 - Puzzle - For this puzzle, much like the water puzzle in Onimusha 1, we'll get a game over from Jacques dying if we fail it. It's basically a big, long game of Simon Says. You have to listen to what Henri says and enter the correct sequence of button presses. What the game doesn't tell you is that if you pause for too long you automatically fail that input, and once you fail you start aaaaaall over from the beginning. Take too long and Jacques dies from the poison. So...yeah. Not fun. I failed once, but got it done the second time. Yeah, I'm not the best at short term memory. 22:55 - Gertrude - After Jacques is rescued, we can finally leave the monastery. But once we reach the shore we discover Gertrude is still alive...and here...somehow. Michelle gets taken out because she was unfortunate enough to be in a cutscene, so we don't get to blow him away with the grenade launcher. Dammit... We've got to fight him the old fashion way as Samanosuke. And man, Gertrude is tough this time around. He seems to be taking it seriously this time around. He has all the same moves as before but he has way more HP. And the biggest issue is that he spams his unblockable charge attack like it's going out of style. I only have so much magic to I-frame myself out of danger so I just had to heal through all the damage and eventually managed to take him out. After putting down our double headed dog, the monastery blows the hell up because of course it does. And there's a cliche scene of Michelle out running the explosion in her car and goddammit I love it. It's like watching an old action movie and it's great. Man I miss this kind of stuff in games. 29:15 - Jacques - One last section as Jacques. Jacques escape plan is even more absurd than outrunning an explosion. There's a Japanese castle inside the monastery and it SPROUTS WINGS AND FLIES AWAY so Jacques uses his whip to sneak onto one of the legs and just hangs on to it the whole ride until he ends up at Lake Biwa, conveniently where the past Samanosuke is.
