The first generation of educational audio producers has largely come from privileged communities with access to technology and funding, and the time to record and distribute material. A new generation is emerging, however, seeking to tell stories about their experiences as marginalized citizens, and spread awareness about challenges that face their communities. The Sound Education podcasting conference took place over 3 days, gathering educational and academic podcasters and radio hosts, and their listeners. It was hosted by Ministry of Ideas, a podcast based at Harvard Divinity School. The launch of this new conference devoted to learning via podcast took place in 2018 at Harvard University, in Cambridge, MA.
