A Looks at rail operations then and now on my Norfolk Southern Model Railroad. Take a look into some of the history and heritage of the railroad. 1979: Train P37, a transfer train, blasts through downtown Ridgecrest led by a Southern Rwy SD40-2 high hood. The Southern Railway depot is still a busy place. 2014: 35 Years later, horns still echo as train blast through town. In comparison, some of NS's newest power is on the front of P37, which still runs through Ridgecrest as a transfer fun to this day. The station and platform are long gone, to give way to a main street extension, but much of the scenery in this mountain town has stayed the same throughout the years.
