Here is "Take It To Me". This was taken from The Promise live video demo that was made in 1982. This vid is significant in that it may be some of the only performance video shot of the Mighty Jack Scott, Lead Guitarist, doing his thing. I've tried to use software to zero in on him while he's soloing. Tried to capture a little of the energy he emitted. Some guitarists are technicians with flawless execution and others - the really rare kind - burn with a vibe and intensity when they play that you can almost feel in the air. Jimi Hendrix had it. Jeff Beck still has it. And Jack Scott had it too. It was a natural thing that just flowed from his fingertips. The Promise was one of three bands that followed in the wake of Olympic Peninsula Legends The Sherman Brothers Band's demise. Three of the original members of The Sherman Bros "classic" lineup Jeff and Greg Sherman and Jack Scott joined forces with long-time friend and mentor Paul Black on drums, Dave Hutchison on bass and Jim Smiley on piano to form a Pacific NW "supergroup" of sorts that played gigs mostly as Alan Rench and the Vicegrips and recorded a demo for Geffen Records in Los Angeles as "The Promise". The failure of the band members to move to the L.A. area and join Jeff - the principle songwriter - killed the project. But fortunately some archival video and music of this great band still survives.
