Here's an overview of John Theissen's Objective Shreveport. In early 1864, Union forces were given the objective of capturing the city of Shreveport. From as far apart as Little Rock and the lower area of the Red River, these Federal armies set forth. Though the Union forces possessed superior numbers, they were encumbered with large supply trains consisting of many wagons. The Confederates gathered units to defend the area, and CSA General Richard Taylor provided an active defense by launching stinging attacks. The North never did manage to take Shreveport, but perhaps things could have gone differently... Objective Shreveport is an operational-level game for two players exploring the 1864 Red River Campaign. It is played with 88 counters, 1 mapsheet, 2 Display Sheets (one for each player), 18 cards, and a six-sided die.
