WordPress 5.0 Gutenberg Release Date Update. Should You Update? That's right, WordPress just announced that the 5.0 update aka Gutenberg is scheduled for this Thursday.

This has come after more than a year in development, months in testing and a delay in the official release of this major update to the most popular blogging and website creation platform on the web.

30% of modern websites use WordPress to power their sites. That means millions of websites world wide depend on the popular software.

This update is one of the biggest in recent memory and has a lot of people, businesses and others on edge.

I've created several videos where I demonstrate some of the functionality, features and how to use the new editor code named Gutenberg.

Here are a few of those videos:

Here's some information directly from Matt Mullenweg, the creator of WordPress.
"Based on the stability, testing, and reports on the release candidates for WordPress 5.0 so far, we are now targeting Thursday December 6th for public release and announcement. 5.0.1 will open for commits soon, and will be an area people can choose to focus on at the contributor day at WordCamp US in Nashville this Sunday.

As before, if new information arises that indicates the software is not stable, we will adjust or remove the target date."

In the yoast article, they mention that you may want to hold off updating to WordPress 5.0 until January.

This is sound advice considering there is likely to be a few issues that need to be resolved.

My recommendation is to take a full backup of Your WordPress Website, checkout my other videos on Gutenberg and maybe hold off on updating until any bugs get resolved.
