The New York Police Department has shown off its first fleet of 14 drones with different payload capabilities. Some can even handle the load of an infrared camera to help police search for people. The NYPD announced their newest tactical addition in a press conference and detailed demonstration on Tuesday. Police Commissioner James P. O'Neill spoke on the addition of their Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) program. The NYPD assures the public that they will be used for routine patrols and will not be equipped with weapons.
