Claude Debussy - La terrasse des audiences du clair de lune

This is a video from my second solo piano recital, performed on July 14, 2013. This recital was a performance of preludes by Claude Debussy, and this piece is La terrasse des audiences du clair de lune (The Terrace of the Moonlit Audience), from Preludes, Book II. Apologies for the awkward camera angle - our piano is in the corner of the living room, so it's a bit difficult to film on a Flip camera in a way that can show the performer's hands and profile without the side wall getting in the way. This was the ninth piece I performed. This is actually my favorite of Debussy's preludes, as it certainly one of his most evocative. Because the background of this piece is so mysterious, I have found it to be one where I've let my mental images fly as I've practiced and performed it. Even the opening left-hand chords that accompany the run in the right remind me of the classic doorbell chime. It is a difficult piece to articulate and I do think I could still work on giving a more polished and consistent interpretation.
