(1 Oct 2018) A new death toll of 844 has been released after Friday's earthquake and tsunami devastated parts of Indonesia. The confirmed toll was announced Monday by disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho. It showed an increase of 12 since the previous day, with nearly all of those from Palu. A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck central Sulawesi in Indonesia Friday and spawned a tsunami said to have been as high as 6 meters (20 feet) in places.
