Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Monday told a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives that the U.S. economy faces a possibly "protracted" slowdown, and "targeted" measures could ease the impact. As VOA's Carolyn Presutti tells us, Bernanke suggested these measures be crafted in ways to get the credit markets moving again, but did not specify how.
