Katherine Ashenburg, is a prize-winning author of three non-fiction books and hundreds of articles 
on subjects that range from travel to mourning customs to architecture. Her work life began with a 
Ph.D. dissertation about Dickens and Christmas, but she quickly left the academic world for 
successive careers as a CBC radio producer; as the arts and books editor; at the The Globe and 
Mail and most recently as a freelance writer, lecturer and teacher. She is the author of the recently published "The Dirt on Clean". Her book lets us imagine what our past smelled like and how we have crossed the line into a world that might be too clean for our own good.(Recorded on October
