I created my 17 Hawks Meadow Lane Trailer series so that I could share with you, in a very short period of time, the special features of our Hidden Hollows property over one year’s time: the beautiful scenery, amazing seasonal and weather changes, fascinating wildlife, and the variety of outdoor activities that Diane, Shadow and I enjoy so very much. We purchased our property in June of 2003, and over the past eleven years, during weekend and holiday visits, we have worked hard grooming the land, clearing the woods, constructing a driveway, mowing paths in the meadow and along the stream, blazing walking trails and an ATV trail through the woods, digging two goldfish pond aquatic habitats and two fishing ponds. We purchased our first 12’ x 20’ Amish mini-barn shed in 2005, and over the next two years, I finished the interior adding AC wiring, insulation, tongue & groove pine paneling and laminate flooring. In 2007, we purchased a second 12’ x 20’ Amish mini-barn shed for storing our ATVs, riding mower and other tools. During the hottest summer months, we temporarily install a window AC unit in our mini-barn cabin. Otherwise, a small, portable electric heater and portable AC heat pump keep the interior very comfortable in all seasons. We have a dry sink and bring in our water from home, or fill up our water tanks from a nearby spring. We installed gutters on the sheds and added rain barrels to harvest the rain for watering our trees, shrubs and gardens. Our latest project last year was constructing a custom pole-barn shed surrounding an Eloo evaporative toilet system. With these improvements, we can fully appreciate all that our property has to offer. We have considered building a cabin on our property, and if we did it would be located at the top of the meadow where the old porch is located and would have lots of windows so we could enjoy the view of the valley and mountains from every room. But, we realized that for us, there would be nothing gained by building a permanent residence. In fact, it may prevent us from being outdoors as much as we are. And it is the outdoor experience and our interaction with nature that is the most amazing part of owning this land. Our property and mini-barn cabin are a wonderful, turnkey recreational getaway. I produced my “17 Hawks Meadow Lane Trailer” series using 1 and 2+ second clips from the best of my iPhone videos that I recorded over the course of one year's time, from November 2013 to November 2014. This Trailer-1 video covers November 2013 through April 2014. After watching the first rendering of this video, I decided not to add a music track because it would only distract. Instead, the natural sound with minimal voice is the better way to go. Thanks for watching my videos and for your comments! Randall
