CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There's a class of drugs used to fight things like cancer called biologics. They are live molecule drugs and can often cost tens of thousands. In Local 12's Connect to Congress segment Wednesday, June 29, Local 12 talked about biologics with Senator Sherrod Brown (D). The democratic senator from Ohio was working with Republican Senator John McCain to lower the price. He said it was like the move decades ago to allow for generic drugs after a brand name drug has been on the market for a number of years. Brown wanted the same for biologics. Senator Brown said he understood drug companies needed to recoup for research and development but said after a reasonable period they were more than well compensated. He also said many times much of the research came in part from tax dollars. Local 12 News also talked about Brexit and terrorism.
