Alpha-decay or or α-decay is a type of radioactive decay. Decay or nuclear decay is a process of an atomic nucleus can split into smaller nuclei. When a radioactive nucleus disintegrates by emitting an alpha-particle, the atomic number decreases by two and mass number decreases by four. The alpha-decay can be expressed as show in the screen. Alpha decay equation explained here through an example : Radium 226 (88Ra226) is converted to radon222 (86Rn222) due to alpha-decay. It is one of the Radioactive Decay type.
