Once again, turnovers strip 49ers of any opportunity to win

SANTA CLARA – It's like deja vu all over and over again.

To beat the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday – the NFL's only remaining undefeated team – the San Francisco 49ers were going to have to play the perfect game. That was far from the case, as the team turned the ball over four times without forcing a takeaway of their own.

The team has had a hard time winning the turnover battle in 2018, and currently rank dead last in takeaway statistics. John Lund, Larry Krueger, and Bonnie-Jill Laflin discussed the game after it ended, and the three agreed that giving the football up was the team's biggest problem.

"That's 12 turnovers in the last three games. You're not beating anybody. Five, three, four. (The Rams) got 24 of their points off turnovers. They had a blocked punt that lead to a safety. You can't win football games like that, period."

"There's buried in there I guarantee when they go through the film there's some good stuff," Larry said. "Raheem Mostert played well. George Kittle played well. We had a couple different situations on defense where guys made plays. But you got to take care of the football. And if you don't, you can't win. They were going to be challenged to win, regardless. But minus four...no shot."

The 49ers head to Arizona to face the Cardinals in Week 7, and then come back home to host the Raiders for Thursday Night Football.
