Mary Lou Galantino brings together her experiences with cancer, her husband's journey with cancer, and her clinical practice and research in integrative oncology, to explore the nature of illness on the mind and body as one faces the ambiguity of the unknown. She answers the question: How is it possible to find resilience in the face of adversity and healing?

Dr. Galantino has published extensively in the areas of wellness coaching, yoga and mind-body therapies through her appointments as Professor of Physical Therapy at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and Research Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified wellness coach and yoga instructor and has a Women's Health Practice at PT Plus Christiana Healthcare System. Her recent medical mission trip to Haiti will inspire this talk under the theme of nature vs nurture. The intention is to recognize inner resources and witness oneself in the world to cultivate meaning and vitality in life circumstances.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
