Manila Nightlife: Pura Vida Costa Rican Reggae Lounge and Restaurant Poblacion Makati.  Pura Vida is the first Costa Rican Reggae Lounge an Restaurant in Manila opened on November 11, 2016 at the trendy Poblacion district of Makati by partners Renato Robles, Nathan Riskin, PJ La Vina and Eoghan Ryan.  Located next to the Z Hostel, it attracts a cosmopolitan hipster crowd and this second floor lounge has indoor and alfresco seating where you will immediately be immersed in its laid back colorful Rastafarian vibe.    

Costa Rican cuisine is a blend of Native American, Spanish, African and many other cuisine origins.   It is known for being fairly mild, with high reliance on fresh fruits and vegetables. Rice and black beans are a staple of most traditional Costa Rican meals, often served three times a day.  Costa Rican fare is nutritionally well rounded, and nearly always cooked from scratch from fresh ingredients.  The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica comes with its own host of Afro-Caribbean influenced traditions.  Rice and beans and pork cracklings is a common dish on the Caribbean side it consists of rice and beans cooked in coconut milk and typically served with fish and some type of fried plantain.  From their simple menu, we would highly recommend the Patacones, Chicharones con Yuca and for your main courses the Bistec Encebollada and the Pollo Caribeno.  They also have a Daily Buy 1 Take 1 Happy Hour from 6PM - 8PM.
