The process of determining the amount of restitution owed to crime victims requires detailed understanding of the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act and other federal laws. This program features a step-by-step process for determining victims and compensable harms for restitution purposes and is presented by representatives of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts Office of General Counsel and the U.S. Sentencing Commission. Included are pretaped segments of a presentation made at the Eighth Annual National Seminar on Sentencing Guidelines cosponsored by the U.S. Sentencing Commission and the Federal Bar Association, held in May 1999.
