Watch monks debate, eat lunch (less than $10 for four persons), and admire Tibetans and Mongolians in town for the day. Yak butter sold in sheep stomachs and pieces of yak hanging in the market (ewww...) were also eye openers - or human stomach turners...it all depends on your perspective.
