Since 1992, Save the Children has been establishing elementary schools in Kolondeiba in sothern Mali, and working with communities and families to explain the importance of enrolling and keeping girls in school. Two-thirds of the world's 880 million illiterate adults are women. Girls are more than 70 percent of the 125 million children who don't have a school to attend.
