Cleaning Out Massive Oregano from Aquaponics Bed

When it comes to aquaponics, there are some plants you should control or maintain. Otherwise, they can get out of control and completely take over your entire grow bed. In this case, it's OREGANO. I never eat the stuff but decided to grow it two years ago, and after a year, it really began to spread like crazy. The problem is that if the root ball gets too big, it can cause dead zones in your grow bed where oxygen and water exchange can't get through it. This can cause deadly anaerobic bacteria which can kill your fish. The second problem is that the roots can clog up your drain system, which can lead to overflows (something that happened in this very grow bed a few months ago, which I documented on another video). To make extracting the plants easier, you should pull the bell siphon out of your grow bed, allowing it to remain flooded. This free-floats the media and makes it slightly easier to pull plants out. However, even with my grow bed full of water, it still took me OVER AN HOUR to take out this oregano plant. That shows how entrenched it was! Interested in aquaponics or supplies?
