Va. - The Virginia State Police identified Joshua Dean Nash as the off-duty officer involved in an early Sunday morning shooting in Franklin County. Nash has been arraigned as of Monday morning. He is being held without bond. Nash is accused of shooting 60-year-old Eric Eysenbach of Martinsville early Sunday morning. Eysenbach was flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound. His injury is described as non-life threatening. A friend of Nash said he works for the Henry County Sheriff's Office. A LinkedIn profile for a Josh Nash lists employment as a Sheriff's Deputy with the Henry County Sheriff's Office since March 2011. We've reached out to the Henry County Sheriff's Office for comment but have not received any as of Sunday night. A firearm at the scene was Nash's personal gun and not his department-issued weapon, according to Virginia State Police. According to State Police, Nash has been charged with shooting in an occupied dwelling, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The Virginia State Police said the shooting took place before 6 a.m., and the Virginia State Police was contacted to handle the investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office around 6:45 a.m. Nash is being held without bond at the Franklin County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
