Last week saw protests organised by students, sanitation workers and public sector unit (PSU) employees against the current state of affairs caused by the state policies and rules. On October 29, women hostellers in Panjab University began protesting against hostel curfew timings for girls. On November 16, hundreds of sanitation workers employed in various urban local bodies, public sector undertakings, and private companies from various states held the National Convention on Sanitation Workers. After 40 days of ongoing agitation in Ghaziabad, more than 500 employees of the Central Electronics Limited (CEL) have brought their agitation to the streets of Delhi. Determined to ensure that CEL is not sold off, the employees are planning to intensify their agitation, and perhaps, will take legal recourse, as all attempts at political negotiations have failed.
