Congress: Protect NIH funding

The effects of sequestration and continued funding cuts to the National Institutes of Health will be devastating for medical research and will set the country back 10 years in intellectual capital and scientific breakthroughs. Most importantly, any interruption in biomedical research will stall progress to develop better treatments for patients with serious blood diseases. Congress must develop a balanced approach to deficit reduction. Now is the time to invest in research; not de-fund it.
